Coronavirus Prevention Tips

Union County Coronavirus InfographicAs the spread of coronavirus, officially named COVID-19, has evolved in recent weeks, Union County’s Division of Public Health has monitored developments. As you may have heard, the first case in North Carolina was confirmed in early March in Wake County. Our team has been preparing for the possibility of confirmed cases in Union County, in partnership with the North Carolina Division of Public Health (NC DPH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). At this point, there are no changes to Union County operations due to coronavirus. We will update our residents if that changes.

The health and well-being of our residents and workforce in Union County is our top priority. We want to ensure accurate and appropriate information is shared to all Union County residents. Please share this Facebook post with an infographicThe caption of the post links to this updated article on the Union County website that provides residents information, resources, and links to the NC DPH and CDC. We encourage all residents to use several effective measures to prevent any virus. They include:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based sanitizer.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes.
  • Disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Get a flu shot - it’s not too late!
  • Stay home if you are sick.

The CDC has helpful information for businesses and workplaces.
