June 26th BOC Meeting Recap

On Tuesday June 26, 2018, the Waxhaw Board of Commissioners conducted both a work session and our regularly scheduled business meeting.

During the sessions, the Board of Commissioners received updates on:

  • the latest design and traffic considerations for the Highway 16/Providence Road widening project from NCDOT
  • the latest updates from the Parks, Culture and Recreation teams on existing projects, Committee work plans and the Master Planning project that is underway.

The regular meeting began and ended with some very well deserved recognition.

  • The Town recognized and appointed Paula Kee Town of Waxhaw Tax Collector
  • Welcomed Tammy Holland as the new Assistant Finance Director and appointed Tammy as the Town of Waxhaw  Deputy Tax Collector,
  • Thanked Mr. Dennis Rorie and Mr. Maxx Oliver for their service to the Town of Waxhaw and congratulated both in their new career endeavors
  • The Town of Waxhaw received from the National Association of Government Communicators a First Place Award for our Town of Waxhaw Events Logo Package. .

At the regular meeting, the Board of Commissioners accomplished the following for the Town of Waxhaw:

  • Approved clarifications in the Town UDO pertaining to animal kennels.  
  • Discussed and approved four ordinances as part of our ordinance modernization efforts. The ordinances addressed street obstructions, parking rules at intersections, Commercial Vehicle parking in the Downtown, and provided clarification on cul-de-sac safety design requirements. 
  • Updated the approval procedures for our Façade Grant Program, with the Historic Preservation Committee now directly responsible for recommendations to the Board of Commissioners   
  • Approved the Belshire subdivision district and plans, with conditions, which will be located on Helms Road and Waxhaw-Marvin Road.
