Budget Highlights From BOC Work Session 5/8

At the May 8th BOC meeting, the Town Manager presented the proposed budget for the Fiscal Year 18-19. The proposed budget provides for the allocation of amounts required for the annual operating costs of the Town, additionally provides for fiscal planning to address traffic congestion, sidewalk repair or construction and tools to guide future planning and investment in town park infrastructure. The proposed tax rate remains unchanged at $0.36 per $100 of assessed value.

The proposed budget includes the establishment of a small transportation investment program, funded by implementing a vehicle fee of $25 per vehicle. This fund would be restricted to transportation enhancements.

The budget as proposed would also reestablish the $80 annual residential solid waste management fee to help offset a portion of the increasing cost of the solid waste, recycling and yard debris program.

This approach allows the town to prepare a balanced budget without drawing from the town reserves, as we have done in the past years.
