Waxhaw Parks & Recreation is excited to offer new youth, teen, adult and senior 55+ recreation and fitness programs to the community. These programs provide opportunities for residents and non-residents to recreate, educate and experience culture. Programs begin the last week in February.
Program listings and registration information is available in our online digital Program Guide at www.waxhaw.com/parksandrecprograms. Hard copies are also available at Waxhaw Town Hall at 1150 N. Broome St. and at Waxhaw Parks & Recreation at 317 N. Broome St. in Waxhaw. The current Winter-Spring 2019 Program Guide lists activities available through June 2019. We will be working to provide additional offerings for our citizens of all ages throughout the year.
Some program highlights include:Youth programs - creating simulations/animations/visual effects, painting a community mural, learning magic, and facepainting. Teen Nights - creating with digital electronics, preparing meals for yourself, dog training classes, and self defenseAdult Night Outs - meal planning, creating a springtime bouquet, and self defenseAdult Fitness - several indoor and outdoor (in the park) sessionsSeniors 55+ Coffee Hours - canvas painting, back and spinal health, fused glass class, the history of WaxhawSenior Trips - bus trips to Harrah's Casino and the Catawba Queen Sightseeing Tour on Lake NormanSenior Fitness - fitness exercises to improve balance and posture, agility, flexibility and coordination.
This summer will bring Fun Days in the Park which will provide family activities at various Waxhaw parks.
