Waxhaw Christmas Parade Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather

Waxhaw Christmas Parade

Waxhaw Christmas ParadeFor nearly 130 years, Waxhaw has been writing our own story, creating a heritage filled with traditions, events, celebrations, and most importantly: you, our community! All of you, our Waxhaw residents and visitors, have helped us write the story of Waxhaw so that it can be shared through our events such as the annual Christmas Parade.

With every event, our staff puts the safety and well-being of our town, our residents and participants first and foremost. Today, due to the forecast for winter weather from Saturday through Monday, the town has made the very difficult decision to cancel the Christmas Parade.

We are all disappointed. Team Waxhaw, which includes our staff as well as all of our parade participants, has worked so hard on what was to be our largest parade ever.

When we host and gather for events like this in Waxhaw, we have the opportunity to come together and experience and deepen our love and appreciation for this great community. We ask that this weekend, we all do it close to home. Share this same spirit of the season with your neighbor. When you see our staff, thank them for their hard work in creating community. And of course focus on your safety and well-being. Once the weather clears, come down and experience the splendor of our downtown in this holiday season.

Thank you,

Steve Maher

Mayor of Waxhaw
