Union County Water to Replace Water Mains in Downtown Waxhaw

 Oct. 20, 2025 Update: 

Work is expected wrap up on Rehobeth Road by the end of this week (Oct. 24). Work will begin at South Providence St. and King St. the week of Oct. 27.

Sept. 26, 2025:

Union County Water will begin a water main replacement project in the downtown Waxhaw area starting Monday, Sept. 29, 2025. 

The project consists of replacing approximately 8,000 linear feet of 2-inch, 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch cast-iron water mains that were installed in the 1930s.

This project will improve infrastructure reliability and service for Union County Water customers. Union County Water anticipates the project will be completed by October 2026. The project contractor is Dawn Development Company. 

 Impacted areas include:

  • Rehobeth Road from Ashton Manor Way to W. South Main Street
  • W. South Main Street from Rehobeth Road to S. High Street
  • Price Street from Jackson Avenue to N. Broad Street
  • N. Broad Street from Price Street to W. N. Main Street
  • W. N. Main Street from Price Street to NC-16
  • N. Church Street from Price Street to W. N. Main Street
  • S. Broome Street from W. S. Main Street to Brevard Street
  • Caldwell Street from S. Broome Street to S. Providence Road
  • S. Providence Road from E. S. Main Street to McCain Street
  • McKibben Street from S. Broome Street to E. S. Main Street
  • King Street from S. Providence Street to McCain Street
  • Brevard Street

Crews will begin work on Rehobeth Road starting Monday, Sept. 29.

As the project progresses, Union County Water will contact customers directly about any anticipated impacts. Union County Water customers can ensure that their contact information is complete and current on their accounts by using this online form.
