The Town of Waxhaw is encouraging all residents make their voices heard on the updated Draft Downtown Master Plan through a reopened online survey, two additional in-person input sessions, and an opportunity to learn more at Waxhaw’s biggest event of the year Autumn Treasures.
Help shape the future of downtown Waxhaw by reviewing the plan and filling out the online survey, now available at downtownwaxhaw.com/master-plan.
ABOUT THE DOWNTOWN MASTER PLAN
The Downtown Master Plan is a strategic vision and guide to help shape the growth and development of downtown Waxhaw over the next five to 10 years. It outlines potential projects aimed at elevating prosperity, vitality and opportunity while honoring downtown’s history and character.
Please note: These recommendations are not currently funded, promised, or guaranteed.
The process began when the Town of Waxhaw engaged the services of BOUDREAUX, Thomas & Hutton, and Arnett Muldrow to help develop the plan. The company started in January 2025 with data collection, research, and analysis with an emphasis on making sure our residents’ voices were heard.
Public engagement efforts included:
- Eight focus groups
- Six public meetings
- A nighttime walkabout
- Multiple site analyses
- Community outreach at Kaleidoscope Festival
- An online community survey
- 18-member steering committee
KEY RECOMMENDATIONS
The current Downtown Master Plan Draft makes key recommendations to
- Identify ideal locations for new businesses
- Ensure parking is thoughtfully integrated to serve both new and existing uses
- Create seamless, safe connections for residents and visitors
Those recommendations are supported by short-, medium-, and long-term strategies that provide a roadmap for public investment, policy updates, and partnership opportunities to guide Waxhaw’s continued downtown growth and success.
Again, these recommendations are not currently funded, promised, or guaranteed.
