The Town of Waxhaw is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) through March 31, 2026.
The HPC plays a key role in safeguarding our historic resources by:
- Reviewing and deciding on Certificates of Appropriateness for repairs and maintenance of local historic landmarks
- Administering façade improvement grants for historic buildings in downtown Waxhaw
- Recommending local historic landmark and district designations
- Using the Waxhaw Historic Landmark Standards to guide preservation and design decisions
REQUIREMENTS
- A majority of members must demonstrate special interest, experience, or education in history, architecture, archaeology, or related fields.
- Must live within Waxhaw town limits
- Meets Second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall
- Term: 3-year staggered
APPOINTMENT PROCESS
Applications are vetted by the Clerk’s Office, interviewed by the Organizational Advisory Board, and considered for appointment by the Board of Commissioners.
