As the weather warms up and Waxhaw residents head outside to spruce up their yards, the Town wants to remind you of the proper way to prepare yard waste for pickup and share some great news about free compost available for your spring gardening projects.
Yard Waste Collection
Yard waste pickup happens on the same day as your regular trash collection, but there are a few important guidelines to follow to ensure your materials are collected:
What We Accept:
- Waste Pro will only pick up yard waste placed in a small reusable container or paper bags no larger than 30 gallons. These bags can be purchased for a nominal fee at retailers like Lowe’s, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and Costco.
- Yard waste bags or containers must not weigh more than 25 pounds when full.
- Up to 15 yard waste bags per week per household will be collected.
- Tree limbs should be cut in three feet lengths, bundled and tied. The diameter of each limb cannot exceed 4 inches. Up to three bundles per week per household will be collected.
What We Do NOT Accept:
- Stumps, root balls, or soil
- Tree limbs where service was performed for a fee by persons other than the property owner
- Yard waste in plastic bags or oversized containers
Why does this matter?
Waste Pro uses specialized equipment to efficiently collect yard waste, and following these guidelines helps keep our service running smoothly for everyone in the community.
