The Town of Waxhaw is constructing a new natural surface trail connecting Town Creek Park to Creekview Drive in the Millbridge neighborhood.
The construction corridor follows an existing informal path that residents have used for years. That path is now closed to the public through late June 2026 while work is underway. Town Creek Park remains fully open throughout construction.
The Town of Waxhaw has contracted Blue Ridge Trail Works, Inc. to construct the approximately 2,870-linear-foot trail running between Town Creek Park and Creekview Drive, between Fallondale Road and Bateson Drive. We know this path has been a valued part of how residents move through the community, and we appreciate your patience while we make it official.

What's Being Done
Work includes:
- Full trail regrading and resurfacing with geoweb and a compacted crushed concrete tread, providing an all-weather, slip-resistant surface
- Construction of a new 16-foot bridge over a secondary drainage crossing on the west side
- Installation of causeway-style raised trail sections in low-lying areas prone to flooding, complete with water flow-through boardwalks
- Drainage pipe installations to better manage stormwater across the trail corridor
Why This Project Matters
When complete, this trail will give Waxhaw residents a safe, reliable, non-motorized connection between the Millbridge neighborhood and Town Creek Park and its open green space and community amenities.
The trail will also become part of the Carolina Thread Trail network, contributing to a regional non-motorized corridor that extends from Waxhaw into South Carolina. Enhancing these connections is a core part of the Town's commitment to building a more walkable, connected Waxhaw.
What to Expect
Construction activity and equipment will be visible from both the Town Creek Park and Creekview Drive ends of the trail. Closure signage is posted at both trailheads. Please respect the closure and do not enter the construction zone for your safety.
