The Waxhaw Board of Commissioners took the following actions during its regular meeting on April 14, 2026:
Agenda Adoption
- Adopted the Regular and Consent Agendas.
Recognitions
- Recognized Animal Control Officer Ken Wall for his 5-year Service Award.
- Recognized PIO/Communications Manager Bradley Lucore for winning two Excellence in Communications Awards at the North Carolina City and County Communicators conference.
Presentations
- The Public Art Committee partnered with Kensington Elementary School for a crosswalk mural art competition. They selected Bernardo Benelli as the winning artist. His artwork will be recreated in the crosswalks as part of a community paint project this Summer.
- Union County Girls on the Run donated $5,000 to the Town of Waxhaw for supporting the 16th Annual Gingersnap 5K Race.
- Presentation of FY25 Audit Report by Nick Wicker of Strickland Hardee PLLC.
- Presentation on Waxhaw's Capital Improvement Plan Policy for FY2027-2031.
Old Business
- Approved the Red Oak Trails Parking Regulations for Option B (modified version).
- Approved the process for the Sale of Town-Owned Property.
- Approve the Howie Mine Parking Lot improvements.
- Adopted resolutions (RES2026006 and RES2026007) in support of NCHB 929 and SCHB4258 prohibiting fluoridation in the public water system.
New Business
- Approved the Waxhaw Building Exterior Improvement Grant Program amendments.
- Approved the Building Exterior Improvement Grant Petition BEIG-001-2026.
- Adopted Resolution (RES2026008) to authorize eminent domain powers and condemnation proceedings for public use to enhance intersection improvements for roadway safety at North Broome Street (NC-16) and Blythe Mill Road.
