Board of Commissioners Meeting Recap - June 9, 2026

The Waxhaw Board of Commissioners took the following actions during its regular meeting on June 9, 2026:

Agenda Adoption

  • Adopted the Regular and Consent Agendas. 

Recognitions

  • Introduced Kristen Birmingham as our new Planning Tech. 
  • Recognized Waxhaw Elementary School Staff Retirements. 
  • Honored Officer Vic Montalvo as the 2025-2026 School Resource Officer of the Year Award. 
  • Honored Officer Matthew Weinstein for his 5-year Service Award. 
  • Honored Program Manager Justine Haynes for her 5-year Service Award. 

Old Business

  • Adopted the Annual Budget for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 (ADOPTED)
    • Adopted the FY 2026-2027 Operating Budget and Ordinance Alternate (ORD2026009) (ADOPTED)
    • Adopted the FY 2026-2027 Capital Improvement Budget and Ordinance (ORD2026010) (ADOPTED)
  • Approved the Merit Strategy and Performance Alignment (APPROVED)
  • Approved Text Amendment Petition TA-002-2026 to amend Chapters 4, 5, 7, and 13 of the Land Development Code updating Minor Subdivisions, Private Streets and Lot Coverage (APPROVED)
  • Repealed Ordinance 2018009 Existing Sections 90.19(A) and Section 10-29 – Animal Licensing from the Waxhaw Code of Ordinances (REPEALED)
  • Adopted the amendment to Part VIII. Public Hearings and Comment Periods adding subsection (e) to Rule 32. Public Hearings in the Board of Commissioners Rules of Procedures  (ADOPTED)
  • Adopted Resolution (RES2026012) Supporting Local Authority over Planning, Zoning, Development and Stormwater Management (ADOPTED)

New Business

  • Approved the Agreement between the Town of Waxhaw and the Union County Library Book Drop-Off/Pick-Up Unit at the Waxhaw Learning Center (APPROVED)
