The Waxhaw Board of Commissioners took the following actions during its regular meeting on July 14, 2026:
Agenda Adoption
- Amended the Agenda to add closed session in accordance with NCGS 143-318.11(a)(3) to consult with attorney and removed item L.2. Development Services Department Updates – adopted as amended.
- Mayor Pro Tem Wedra read Proclamation (PRO2026016) Designating July as National Parks and Recreation Month.
- Adopted the Consent Agenda as presented.
Recognitions
- Introduced Karen Dewey as our new Deputy Clerk.
- Proclamation (PRO2026017) awarding badge and service weapon upon retirement of Police Sergeant Alex Ng.
Public Hearing
- Public Hearing held for Economic Development Authority Related to Town-owned property.
Old Business
- Adoption of Resolution (RES2026013) and guidelines to allow prayer/invocations at public meetings of the Board of Commissioners. Amended Guidelines item 3 to read, “ Any person wishing to provide an invocation shall contact the Town Clerk to be placed on the invocation calendar on a first-come, first served basis”. (APPROVED as amended)
- Adoption of Personnel Policy updates. Amended to remove the age requirement from the Retiree Health Reimbursement Account Policy. (APPROVED as amended)
New Business
- Awarded Contract to Volkert for the EB-5950: Kensington Drive Roadway Improvements – Locally Administered Project – Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) Services. (APPROVED)
