The Town of Waxhaw will begin construction on sidewalk improvements on Red Oaks Trail near NC-16 starting Monday, August 3, 2026, as part of the parking improvements project. Work is expected to be completed within a week, weather permitting.
A contractor working for the Town will make several sidewalk improvements including:
- ADA ramp for a single handicap parking spot on the north side of the road
- ADA handicap ramps for two new crosswalks
Work is expected to cause minimal disruption and will take place during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Access will be maintained to businesses and driveways.
The Board of Commissioners approved parking regulations at its April 14, 2026, meeting that will create:
- eight striped parking spaces on the south side of Red Oaks Trail
- one handicap parking space on the north side of Red Oaks Trail
- two new crosswalks
- one solar streetlight to improve pedestrian safety
The Town of Waxhaw’s Public Services team will install the signage, striping, crosswalk markings, and lighting at a later date to be determined.
