Leaf Vacuuming Program

The Town of Waxhaw Public Services Department provides leaf vacuuming service to residents each year from November through January.

Crews operate Monday through Thursday and rotate through every neighborhood in Town, covering more than 7,000 homes each season. Because of the number of homes and the volume of leaves, it may take several weeks between visits to your street, but crews will make sure all leaves are collected.

To help us keep the program running smoothly and efficiently, please follow these simple guidelines:

Text Guide with Leaf Vacuuming Guidelines

Leaf Vacuuming Guidelines

  1. Leaves Only - Please ensure your piles contain only leaves. Limbs, rocks, and other debris can damage our equipment and cause delays.
  2. Rake Leaves to the Edge of the Street - Place piles close enough for the vacuum hose to reach. Equipment cannot access piles that are too far from the curb.
  3. Keep Leaves Out of Ditches and Storm Drains - This helps prevent flooding and drainage blockages.
  4. Leave Space for Equipment - Avoid parking on or near leaf piles. If crews cannot safely reach your leaves, they will not be collected until vehicles are moved.

Weather and Scheduling

Vacuuming will pause during inclement weather to protect our equipment, but crews will resume service as soon as conditions allow.

There’s no need to call when your leaves are ready. Crews will make regular rounds throughout Town until all leaves have been collected.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to conduct this service in a timely manner. If you have questions, please call the Public Services Department at (704) 843-7439.
