Town of Waxhaw, NC
Home MenuWaxhaw Youth Council
The Waxhaw Youth Council (WYC) consists of 15 members from grades 8 through 12. The Waxhaw Youth Council is a leadership and service-oriented group of high school students ages 14 through 18 who live in or attend school within the Town of Waxhaw or nearby areas. As representatives of the youth voice in our community, Youth Council members work alongside Town leaders to help shape a stronger, more connected Waxhaw.
Youth Council members are expected to participate in Town-sponsored volunteer opportunities and civic events throughout the year. Whether supporting local festivals, town meetings, or service projects, members serve as ambassadors for Waxhaw and represent the Town at regional conferences and leadership workshops.
The group is facilitated by Town Clerk Barbie Bruce, Cuthbertson Teacher Ben Smith, and Commissioner Susanna Wedra, who help guide student-led initiatives and leadership development.
