Pre-Tree Lighting Activities
Saturday, Nov. 22 | 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Location: Downtown Park (301 Givens Street)
Join us for an afternoon of festive fun before the tree lighting begins!
Event Highlights:
- Touch-A-Truck Area - Enjoy a hands-on experience with dozens of cool vehicles, equipment, and heavy machinery including Police Cars, Fire Trucks, and many more!
- Photos with Santa - Santa will visit the park for photos.
- Photos Inside a Giant Snow Globe
- Anna & Elsa Meet-and-Greet - The Frozen favorites will be roaming the park for photos.
- Train Rides on the Polar Express
- Holiday Music & Entertainment - Enjoy performances at the Santa Stage at the Amphitheater starting at 4 p.m.
- Reindeer Food & Crafts - Thanks to the Rotary Club of Weddington and Waxhaw and the Girl Scout troops.
- Children's Entrepreneur Market - Shop handmade gifts from young entrepreneurs
- Holiday Treats and Sweets - Get your sweet tooth ready for food and treat vendors with hot chocolate and sweets for sale.
All activities are free. Costs apply for food trucks and market purchases.
Sensory Hour:
3 to 4 p.m. | During Sensory Hour, there will be no loud noises or flashing lights to create a calm environment for guests with sensory sensitivities.
Tree & Downtown Lighting
6 p.m. | Downtown Park
Help us kick off the holiday season as we light the Waxhaw Tree and illuminate downtown Waxhaw!
The official tree lighting will take place in Downtown Park at 6 p.m.
Downtown Park will close after the tree lighting.
All visitors are encouraged to visit downtown Waxhaw for shopping and dining with all of the beautiful lights.
Keep the Glow Going: Downtown After the Tree Lighting
6 to 8 p.m. | Downtown Waxhaw
The fun doesn’t stop when the tree lights up! After the Town’s Tree Lighting in the park, stroll into Downtown Waxhaw for a cozy evening filled with holiday cheer.
- Enjoy crafts and cocoa by the Water Tank
- Snap a photo with Santa & Mrs. Claus as they make their way through downtown
- Pop into our shops and restaurants for festive treats and specials.
Many of our retailers will be open late, so linger a little longer and experience the magic of downtown after dark.

Parking & Road Closures
Suggested Parking:
- Blythe Mill Road Grass Parking Lot
- Gravel lot on North Broome Street
- On-street parking is available near downtown businesses. Please follow all signage.
ADA Accessible Parking:
- Along N. Church Street between Price & McDonald Streets
Road Closure Notice:
Givens Street will be closed from Caldwell Street to S. Broad Street due to increased pedestrian traffic. Please use the available downtown lots and on-street parking.
